2022 New Year’s resolutions you'll want to keep

Raise your hand if you've ever made a New Year resolution that lasted more than a few weeks!

Yep, that’s what we thought. We make New Year’s resolutions with the best intentions, but they’re ridiculously hard to keep – maybe because the things we promise ourselves are tad dull or simply too difficult to keep.

Here is a list of 13 New Year’s resolutions with fun goals for 2022 – and we promise that you’ll want to stick to them for more than the first week of January.

13 fun New Year’s resolution ideas:

1. Pen to paper

  1. Okay, so the first one is easy. It’s a one-time thing and straightforward: Write a letter!

Yep, put an old-school pen to paper, pop a stamp on an envelope and post your letter in the real world. It’s wild, we know, but someone in your life will appreciate such a thoughtful gesture – like your grandparents, or an old friend that you haven’t seen in years, for example.

2. Your new signature thing

  1. Use 2022 to memorise dialogues from your favourite films and take every opportunity you get to entertain your friends. It’s your new signature thing, own it!

3. Practice, practice, practice

  1. Stay in the bathroom while you brush your teeth (!) and practice a couple of new funky dance moves.


4. The ultimate playlist

  1. Ask random people in your life for their favourite track and save all the numbers for a playlist. That way, you get a chance to explore new artists and broaden your musical horizons. And who knows, you might find a new preferred song to sing in the shower.

5. Log it, note it

  1. Laugh more, worry less. Create a laughing log and note down when somebody tickles your funny bone. Laughter is the best medicine and can easily compete with a healthy diet and exhausting exercise.

6. Break the predictable

  1. Break the force of habit by taking a new route to work, changing your morning routine or anything else you can think of that breaks with the predictable.

7. Go cu-cu-crazy

  1. Do something wild and get out of your comfort zone once in a while. It makes you come alive.

8. Stop it!

  1. Stop multi-tasking. It kills your creativity, and your brain wasn’t built for it.

9. The gamechanger

This one is a gamechanger, or at least we hope it is. Every time you think negatively about yourself, pay yourself a compliment. If you can’t think of one, then ask your friends what they love most about you. Make sure to write it down so you have it for a rainy day.

10. Random kindness on a weekly basis

If you found the previous one a tad difficult, try to combine it with this one. Every Monday, make a benevolent gesture. You could hold a door for a stranger, ask the bus driver if it’s been a busy day, let the person who seems rushed go in front of you in the supermarket queue (remember, a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet). In short, spread random kindness on a weekly basis. This way, you’ll know that you truly rock!

11. Dance, recycle, repeat

This one is close to our hearts. The average person produces way too much waste every year – so why not change a couple of daily habits and do the planet a favour at the same time? You could cut down your long showers a little or bring your own shopping bag next time you head to the grocery store. Green deeds are fab!

12. Just... Take the stairs

Drop the 'new year, new me' resolution and just take the stairs! Even when the lift is right there waiting for you. Stairs are great lower body exercise, and no lycra is involved. If you need to carry tons of groceries to the 6th floor or have another legitimate excuse it’s another story, of course.

13. It can be anything!

Dedicate 2022 to things that make you happy. It can be anything – eat ice cream in bed, overindulge on Netflix, feel the sun on your face.
