1995-2025: We are Celebrating 30 Years

In 1995, the very first Tiger store opened in Copenhagen - marking the beginning of a journey that now spans 30 incredible years of Flying Tiger Copenhagen. 

But our story begins even earlier, back in the 1980s, at a local flea market. That’s where our founder, Lennart Lajboschitz, and his wife Suz started selling umbrellas from a small stall. In 1988, they took a leap and opened a modest shop called Zebra in their Copenhagen neighborhood. The shop quickly gained popularity for its selection of affordable items like umbrellas, sunglasses, socks, and surplus goods. 

Zebra would eventually evolve into Tiger. When the first Tiger store opened its doors in 1995, it introduced a new and playful retail concept: everything in the store was priced at just 10 DKK.

Much has changed since those early days, but our mission remains the same: to bring a little everyday magic into people’s lives through a unique, affordable shopping experience filled with fun and surprises. 

From that single store in Copenhagen to more than 1,000 stores worldwide today, Flying Tiger Copenhagen has become a global brand rooted in Danish design and quirky design philosophy.
