Make your own kaleidoscope

Here’s a dazzling idea for the winter holidays ­– or any other day! Get an eyeful of swirling patterns and splendid colours with our fun kaleidoscope tutorial. The materials you need are really simple and you can probably shop around your home for what you need. Long live upcycling and kids’ creativity!

Napkins Party Flying Tiger Copenhagen
Origami paper.
Scissors.
Pom poms.

Here is how

Your DIY ingredients: Kitchen roll tube, Silver foil, Paper, Hobby knife, Scissors, Tape, Small empty plastic tube, Sequins and stickers

1. Fill the plastic tube with sequins and rhinestones.

2. Seal the end of the tube with transparent tape.

  1. 3. Place the tube in the kitchen roll tube.
  1. 4. Place a piece of tape along the edge of the tube.

5. Take the paper sheet and make three folds.

  1. 6. Place the pre-folded paper on the silver foil and wrap it like a present.
  1. 7. Now fold the silver foil to form a triangle.
  1. 8. Place the kitchen roll tube on a sheet of paper and draw a circle around it.
  1. 9. Cut out the circle with a pair of scissors.
  1. 10. Cut the circle in half.

11. Place the circle over the end of the tube.

  1. 12. Let your imagination run wild and decorate the outside of the tube with foam stickers.
  1. 13. Take a pencil or the hobby knife and make a small hole in the middle of the paper, so you have a peep hole.

Tada! Your kaleidoscope is ready!
