Let’s make some noise! These products are here today and may even be gone tomorrow.
In a world of limited resources, we need to carefully choose which materials we use. Read more about eco-friendly product materials and learn why plastic sometimes is fantastic.
Bamboo has its own powerful story. It has a tensile strength that rivals steel and is the fastest growing plant on the planet. Bamboo can grow up to an impressive one meter a week. But the best thing about bamboo is that it’s a renewable resource. It continues to grow new shoots, and its roots remain in the soil which helps to prevent soil erosion.
Stainless steel not only looks cool, it’s also eco-friendly cool! The shiny looking metal on your fork, knife and refrigerator door (and so much more) is highly durable and can be fully recycled. It’s easy to re-melt and can be reused infinitely, without any quality degradation. This makes stainless steel a material that can last a lifetime. Moreover, it doesn’t stain, corrode, or rust as easily as ordinary steel.
Seagrass is a marvellous plant that lives in shallow, sheltered areas along the coast. If you find yourself near to a bay or a lagoon, we bet you’re near some seagrass too. Seagrass, not to be confused with seaweed, is a renewable and bio-degradable material in its natural form.
Plastic that has been recycled is much more climate friendly. Plastics are one of the most versatile and commonly used materials in the world, and for some products it’s the right material to use. When plastic is recycled and reused, we prevent waste creation and respect the resources that has already been used in the making of the material.
Cheers to glass, a highly durable and 100% recyclable material! Glass is one of the most widely recycled materials across the globe. When glass is collected for recycling, it requires a lower melting temperature, reducing the carbon footprint. For every six tons of recycled glass, we save the atmosphere one ton of carbon dioxide. Glass can be endlessly recycled.
Wood is a wonderful material. It’s renewable, biodegradable, long-lasting and ages beautifully. Wood harvested from FSC® certified forests is even more eco-friendly. FSC is an international, non-profit organisation that ensures that the trees that are harvested are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally. Look for the FSC logo and buy hardwood with a clear conscience.
You might want to note down all the nice things there is to say about paper as a material. It’s easily recyclable, it’s renewable and it’s biodegradable. Paper produced from FSC® certified forests is particularly eco-friendly and cool. FSC is a green certification. It ensures that the harvested trees are replaced and that the forest is allowed to regenerate naturally.
If the answer is yes, it’s your lucky day. To make it easier for you to make an eco-friendly choice we have identified all green products in our webshop and marked them with an eco-friendly label. See how we classify eco-friendliness and explore our green assortment.
When you choose FSC®-certified goods, you support the responsible use of the world's forests, and you help to take care of the animals and people who live in them. Look for the FSC mark on our products and read more at flyingtiger.com/fsc
